A lovely #bekindr story that highlights the power of a kind stranger, submitted by Jennifer Bright Reich, Cofounder and Editorial Director of the Mommy MD Guides (a site you should definitely check out!).When I think of kindness, my mind goes to my favorite place: Walt Disney World. I’ve visited many times, but the most magical trip was the most recent one I took with my kids–10 year old Tyler and 8 year old Austin. One of the reasons the trip was so special was the special (unexpected, and, yes kind) treatment we received from cast members. I’ve read many stories about the above-and-beyond work of cast members, and I really experienced it firsthand this trip. My favorite of the experiences happened at the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular.
My sons and I had arrived to the show early. But rather than sitting on the bleachers, we sat in the very back, on the wall. It was hot, and we wanted to be able to relax and spread out a bit. I organized my backpack and chatted with my boys before the show. One of the cast members stopped by a few times to chat with me. He was super friendly and engaging with my kids.
After talking with the cast member a bit, he asked me for my full name, and he explained he was going to give us a surprise. I gave my name to him, and he needed to go to make a phone call. When he came back, he gave me a special ticket and told me to be at the Lights Motor Action show a little later that day. “They’ll be expecting you,” he said with a wink.
When we got to the show later, we were warmly welcomed and escorted in to the theater…all the way to the very front row! We were seated in the “director’s chairs!” Literally, we sat mere feet off of the stage! The heat we felt coming off the explosions was unreal! It was an absolutely amazing incredible experience, and all because of the kindness of a stranger.
