Eva Ritvo, MD and a group of noted presenters held an extraordinary gathering at Capital One Café on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach hosted by Armando Fabian,Café Ambassador. The “Let’s Make Miami Kinder” Event, a stop on the Bekinder Global Initiative Tour, brought together a once-in-a-lifetime group of speakers and contributors.
This special event on kindness was moderated by Dr. Ritvo, Bekindr Founder, with interactive groups led by Marilyn Dans, Kristen Rosen Gonzales, Ph.D., Michelle Leve, Ph. D.,and Maritza Montano, Ph.D.
Audience members of all ages including a Teen Zone group with their Recreation Leader Kenneth McKenzie, Jr. from Hallandale Beach Parks and Recreation came together to explore the topic of kindness in their daily lives and the world around them. Dr. Leve covered kindness to self. Dr. Montano discussed kindness to loved ones and friends. Dr. Rosen Gonzalez ran a group interested in how we to use the political system to make Miami kinder. Marilyn Dans talked about kindness to your environment, shared her experiences in Haiti and improving her neighborhood in Miami. Captivating the audience by Skype were Nick and Diane Marson, contributors to the Bekindr book, actual subjects who were stranded and received overflowing kindness from strangers in Gander, Newfoundland after 9/11.
Eva Ritvo, MD, the author of Bekindr: The Transformative Power of Kindness, founded the Bekindr Global Initiative to promote kindness as an antidote to everyday stress and complications from our 24/7 world. “Be the change you wish to see in the world was a quote by Mahatma Gandhi. I realized that during a personal time of need, a complete stranger was kind to me. Wanting to know more about the science and philosophy of kindness, I began to do research that eventually led to writing Bekindr: The Transformative Power of Kindness with stories from sixty-four contributors,” stated Ritvo. “The Bekindr Global Initiative naturally evolved as more and more people were inspired by our message. Our goal is to go far and wide and help spread kindness one town at a time!” To get involved with the Bekindr Global Initiative or to contribute kind stories, contact Eva Ritvo, MD at www.Bekindr.com.
